Why I haven't been snowboarding
It’s been a couple of weeks since my last post, I’ve been busy–but not with anything to do with snowboarding. After turning in my final paper-ever- for grad school I flew home to Minnesota. I wanted to make almost all of the gifts I was giving this year- vodka infused with cranberries, beeswax candles and ornaments. The only snow in this post is the one in the window below. Sorry to disappoint, but it’s all I got.
Sealing the blackberry cordial my mom had been working on for the past couple months. Notice the hammer in the right-hand corner? Every kitchen needs one, and a blowtorch. Sometimes you just never know.
This was easy. Take vodka, add cranberries, wait two weeks. I love how the jars turned out with the red sealing wax and the tags.
Packages of the cranberry vodka ready to be delivered!
Rolling the candles was pretty easy and fast. I ended up with about 20 sets of candles. And they smelled amazing.
The bee ornaments were a pain in the butt. Melt the blocks of beeswax over boiling water pour into the mold, wait for it to cool, then cut around the edge, smoothing it all out. Then, carefully melt the back so that the string holding the ornament can be attached. Ugh. I think I had my entire family doing a production line until 2 AM some nights trying to finish these things. Not sure if I will ever do that again. At least not the night before Christmas Eve.
While I was in Minnesota it dumped-20 inches. For a brief second I wished I had my board, but then realized the hills probably weren’t steep enough to get good speed. (That’s what I told myself, at least.) It’s snowing tons in the mountains right now, but I’m not going to be able to get out until the weekend. Sigh. I can’t wait, its been way too long.
Were you able to get out and go ride over the holiday? How was the snow? If it was good, I’m not going to be able to help being jealous.
